Webinar on supporting students with families in higher education

2026.02.20.

On 17 February 2026, we presented the results of our Erasmus+ project, launched in 2023, which aims to support students with children in higher education, in a webinar. Entitled Supporting Inclusive Learning Environments – Strategies for Supporting Students with Children in Higher Education, the project was implemented in partnership with several universities in Hungary and around Europe.

During the programme, the project coordinator, Örs Levente Kovács, presented the main steps and results of the project's implementation. This was followed by the presentation of lead researcher, Bálint Duráczky, who introduced the toolkit providing practical guidance for higher education institutions on supporting students with families. Participants in the webinar also gained insight into the research that explored the challenges faced by students with children during their studies at university.

At the event, Richárd Bodrogi, Director General of the Tempus Public Foundation, discussed the opportunities offered by Erasmus+ programmes. Representatives of European family organisations then shared their international experiences. Maria Regina Florio Maroncelli, Vice President of ELFAC, Elisabeth Gosme, Director of COFACE, and Kinga Joó, NOE's International Adviser, discussed the situation in Europe regarding family-friendly higher education, and how good practices can help students who are raising children to succeed in university life.

One of the project's key objectives is to equip higher education institutions with the methodological and practical tools needed to foster a more family-friendly and inclusive learning environment. The toolkit, developed through research and partnership cooperation, can help students with children to balance their studies and family life more effectively.
