Vice President Šuica will highlight the central role families play in our societies and the importance of ensuring that our policies allow for balancing work and family life.
She will talk about the EU demography policies and ways in which they can enrich and facilitate the lives of all of our citizens including all types of families and suggest actions that can be taken by all of the actors in our society to further promote the wellbeing of families.

The lecture will focus on the preparations for the Thirtieth Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, 2021-2024 and selected Sustainable Development Goals and targets. Brief analysis of mega trends (new technologies, urbanization, migration, demographic change and climate change) with a special focus on digital technologies will be offered.

The environmental revolution has changed many of our daily habits in a short time. There is a great debate about the threat of climate change and its causes. Among other things, the impact of population growth, and specifically of large families, is debated. To get closer to this discussion with real data, we present the results of a new survey between European families with children about their attitude protecting the environment and how they keep it in mind in their lives.

The presentation gives an overview of international and Hungarian demographic trends and it demonstrates the effect that changing population size and structure have on the main economic variables. The presentation highlights some forms of support included in the Hungarian family support system and it includes additional proposals for the purpose of a demographic reversal.

The Sustainable Development Agenda, signed by all the governments of the world five years ago, set the clearest roadmap for the future (Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs). Eradicating poverty, consolidating health habits, reaching inclusive equitable quality education and achieving gender equality are all part of that agenda, but how can we find the right way to reach them?
